Some Realtors will tell you that a “healthy” housing market (one that favors neither home buyers nor home sellers) will have a six month inventory of houses for sale. In the recent past houses have been selling in a matter of days rather than months. Now home sellers are getting used to the idea that they may have to wait a while. No longer can sellers and their agents push up asking prices by 10% with each new listing. Unfortunately some unsavory real estate agents are still attempting to “buy listings” by giving sellers inflated price estimates. This has become a sure way to keep a house for sale longer, or even to guarantee that the house will not sell.
It is still our opinion that the best thing for home sellers is to price a house realistically. The house will sell faster. Both the sellers and the buyers will have better home sale & purchase experiences.
